Cozy Crochet for Fall & Halloween: Ideas to Hook Before the Craft Fair

Fall is creeping closer (and so is Halloween 👻), which means it’s time to set aside those summer WIPs and dive headfirst into pumpkin spice–season projects. I’m wrapping up my last few summer pieces this week so I can officially switch over to cozy Fall crochet for my September craft fair. Then, before I know it, November will be here, and Christmas projects will take over (too soon, right?! 🎄).

If you’re like me and feeling the seasonal crochet crunch, here are some fun, fast, and festive Halloween and Fall-themed ideas to whip up. These work great for craft fairs, gifts, or just to decorate your own home.

🎃 Halloween Crochet Ideas

1. Amigurumi Ghosts

  • Small, plush ghosts are quick to make and always a hit.

  • Add little felt blush cheeks or embroidered smiles to give each one personality.

  • You can make them with or without arms, and even stitch a loop at the top to hang as ornaments or garlands.

2. Mini Pumpkins

  • A classic fall favorite—make them in orange, white, or even velvet yarn for a luxe feel.

  • Add a cinnamon stick for the stem for a rustic, scented twist.

  • Stack them in baskets for an adorable craft fair display.

3. Witch Hats

  • Tiny versions make cute cat or doll accessories.

  • Larger ones can be used as table toppers or even wearable costume accessories.

  • Try black with a purple or green band for that classic witchy vibe.

4. Black Cats

  • Perfect as plushies or appliqués for bags and hats.

  • Add safety eyes or embroidered sleepy eyes to make them extra charming.

  • A mini black cat amigurumi with a witch hat is chef’s kiss for Halloween tables.

5. Skulls & Skeletons

  • Crochet skull appliqués to sew onto beanies or coasters.

  • Amigurumi skeleton dolls can be cute or spooky, depending on how you style them.

6. Spider Webs & Spiders

  • Flat crochet spider webs make great coasters or wall hangings.

  • Stuffed spiders (friendly ones!) are perfect for kids’ toys or Halloween décor.

7. Candy Corn

  • Whip up candy corn plushies in different sizes.

  • They make excellent keychains, bowl fillers, or garland pieces.

8. Bat Plushies

  • Soft little bats with floppy wings are adorable as amigurumi.

  • You can also make bat wing appliqués to sew onto kids’ sweaters or tote bags.

9. Coasters & Mug Rugs

  • Pumpkin, spider web, or ghost-shaped coasters are functional and festive.

  • Quick to make in sets—perfect for selling at fairs in little bundles.

10. Treat Bags

  • Crochet small drawstring bags shaped like pumpkins, ghosts, or candy corn.

  • Great for trick-or-treating or party favors.

🍂 Cozy Fall Crochet Ideas (Non-Halloween)

Because not everyone wants spooky—some just want the cozy vibes!

  • Chunky Scarves & Cowls – always great sellers for fairs once the weather cools.

  • Pumpkin Pie Slice Amigurumi – adorable and seasonal.

  • Leaf Garlands – perfect for home décor.

  • Acorns – tiny and cute, easy to whip up in batches.

  • Apple Plushies or Coasters – double as teacher gifts.

⏱ Craft Fair Prep Tip

Since September isn’t far off, I’m focusing on small, quick projects that I can make multiples of. Amigurumi ghosts, mini pumpkins, and coasters are my top picks for speed and variety. Larger, more detailed pieces (like blankets or big plushies) are better for showcasing at the booth, but the little seasonal trinkets are what people love to grab on impulse.

And then… deep breath… Christmas crochet will be here before we know it. But for now, let’s lean into all things spooky, cozy, and pumpkin-y.
