Crochet Yarn Haul – A Trip to My Go-To Yarn Store 🧶

I recently went on a yarn run to Herrschners Yarn Store in Stevens Point, my absolute go-to yarn shop. It’s one of the closest yarn stores to me, which makes it dangerously easy to justify “just one quick stop” 😅.
This trip had a purpose though! I received a custom order from someone at my work. They want me to crochet chicken nuggets for their kids as a Christmas gift. Yes… chicken nuggets 😂. I love fun requests like this, but I’m also feeling the pressure because Christmas is only 10 days away. Fingers crossed I can get everything done in time!
I originally thought I already had the right colors in my yarn stash at home… but nope. Close, but not quite what I was envisioning. So off to the yarn store I went.
Chicken Nugget Yarn 🐔🍗
The color that looks absolutely perfect for this project is Mustard in Premier Yarns Parfait Chunky. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one. I grabbed three skeins right away. That should be enough to make the two 5-piece nugget sets that were requested, and maybe even a few extras — possibly even two jumbo nuggets if I’m lucky.
I also remembered that I have Loops & Thread Royal Velvet yarn in the color Mineral Yellow sitting on my shelf at home. I’ve had it for about two years. I bought it because it looked cool, but I never really knew what to use it for. Now I’m thinking it might be perfect for making a big jumbo nugget, so that yarn may finally get its moment!
Fries, Valentines, and Spring Markets 🍟💖
Next up, I picked up Premier Parfait Chunky in Yellow. My coworker also mentioned fries, and if time allows, I might try to make some to go with the nuggets. If not, this is still a great spring color that I can use for my upcoming February and March craft shows.
I also grabbed Premier Parfait Chunky in Bubblegum. My next market is the week before Valentine’s Day, so I really need to start prepping projects for that. This color is perfect for Valentine’s makes, and it also pairs really nicely with the yellow.
A Blanket for My Oldest ❤️🧶
I then picked up Premier Parfait Chunky in Ruby and Navy. These are for a special project — my oldest son wants me to make him a blanket for Christmas in these colors. He requested a red, white, and blue blanket, just like the one I made for my new baby nephew a couple of days ago. I’ll have to work on it while he’s at school so it stays a surprise!
Beanie Hat Yarn 🧢✨
The last yarns I picked up were Premier Puzzle Yarn in the colors Anagram and Tangram. I’ve been working on beanie hats, and this yarn has been so nice to work with. So far, I’ve finished two youth-sized beanies, and I definitely want to make more.
I’m currently waiting on leather tags and pom-poms to arrive in the mail so I can fully complete them. I’ll be sharing the pattern and pictures soon, so stay tuned!
