My 5th Craft Fair Ever: A Fun and Successful Day Selling Crochet Amigurumi in Merrill, WI

This craft fair was a big milestone for me—it was my 5th craft fair ever and my very first one of 2026! I was both excited and nervous, especially because I brought along a bunch of new crochet amigurumi projects that I had never sold at a market before.

The event was held at the Eagles Club in Merrill, Wisconsin, and ran from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Even though it was a smaller vendor event, it turned out to be such a fun and successful day.

Setting Up at the Eagles Club Craft Fair

Setup started early, and let me tell you—it was cold. The temperature outside was around -9 degrees, and even indoors it stayed chilly. I definitely wished I had brought a space heater, because the blanket I packed just wasn’t enough to keep me warm throughout the day.

For my booth, I had two 6-foot tables, which was absolutely perfect. It gave me plenty of room to spread out all of my handmade crochet plushies, displays, and signs without feeling crowded.

This time, I was set up in the middle of the vendor space, instead of against a wall like I had been at previous markets. I was nervous at first, but it actually worked out really well. The vendors in the center were arranged so we could move freely, and the layout allowed customers to circulate easily around the room. In the end, I really liked this setup and would definitely do it again.

Being Surrounded by Other Crochet Artists

Once I was fully set up, I walked around to check out the other vendors. I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure how sales would go because there were several other crochet artists at this market.

A few vendors down from me was another amigurumi artist—her style was very different from mine, but still absolutely beautiful. Across from me was a crochet artist who specialized in cardigans, and around the corner was another vendor who made crochet bags, purses, and some amigurumi.

Even though we all worked with yarn, everyone brought their own style, creativity, and uniqueness to the event. Everything was so well-made and inspiring, and I truly wish every vendor nothing but success.

Craft Fair Foot Traffic and the Cold Day

The craft fair officially started at 9:00 AM, but foot traffic was pretty light at first. Around 9:30 AM, things picked up and stayed busy for a while.

By about 12:30 PM, it slowed down again and remained quiet for the rest of the event. Being a smaller market, there were probably around 20 vendors total, which gave it a cozy, relaxed feel.

During slower moments, I kept myself busy by crocheting at my booth. I ended up making two mushroom pop-it amigurumi, which was actually really nice and helped pass the time.

A Few Fun Extras at My Booth

There was a 3D print vendor at the market that my daughter absolutely loved. She ended up buying several items—mostly dragons—and Richard surprised me by getting me a 3D-printed sloth display. It was adorable and fit perfectly with my setup. I placed it near my business cards, and it added a fun little touch to my table.

Customer Feedback and Crochet Safety Tips

All of the customers that day were incredibly friendly, which always makes such a difference. One customer gave me a helpful suggestion about making more amigurumi with crocheted eyes instead of hard plastic safety eyes, especially for young children.

I actually did have some crochet-eyed chickens, but they had sold out before she stopped by my booth. That feedback really stuck with me, and I’ll definitely be making more crochet-eyed amigurumi for future markets.

What Sold Best at This Craft Fair

Even though it was a smaller event, I was really happy with how sales went. In total, I sold 18 handmade items, which I’m proud of!

Here’s what sold best:

  • Mini chicken nuggets – hands down the top seller! Kids absolutely loved them

  • Mini bees and chickens – always popular

  • Demogorgans – I brought two, and both sold! Kids went wild for them, so I’ll definitely be making more

  • 4-foot pink snake – sold

  • Large purple dinosaur – sold

  • Crochet purses – I sold two of the larger ones, which surprised me in the best way

I wasn’t sure how the kids’ purses would do, since they were new items for me, but they ended up selling really well.

New Crochet Items I Brought to This Market

This craft fair was extra exciting because I brought several brand-new crochet items, including:

  • Ducks

  • Flamingos

  • Chicken nuggets

  • Mushroom pop-its

  • Demogorgons

  • Mini hearts

  • Bubble youth hat

  • Small crochet purses

It’s always a little nerve-wracking bringing new designs, but it was so rewarding to see customers connect with them.

Why I Love Doing Craft Fairs

One of the biggest reasons I love doing craft fairs and vendor markets is the chance to get out, meet people, and see their excitement when they pick up one of my plushies. There’s something really special about watching someone smile while holding something you made with your own hands.

I also tend to get more sales in person than online, and the feedback I receive at markets helps shape what I make next.

Final Thoughts on This Craft Fair Day

Overall, this craft fair at the Eagles Club in Merrill, WI was a great start to 2026. Despite the cold, the slow moments, and my initial nerves, I had a lot of fun and walked away feeling encouraged and inspired.

Every market teaches me something new, and this one reminded me why I love creating handmade crochet amigurumi and sharing them with others. I’m already excited for the next one!
